Why Tips for College?

Hello, and welcome to my blog. I wanted to write a little bit about the purpose for this new blog and give you some insight about what you can find here.

As a first-generation and non-traditional college graduate, I know what it’s like to navigate the road to college . . . especially from the perspective of someone who did not know what to expect at the time. When I first started-out in 1995, college sounded like a good idea to me. Everyone told me that it was a good place to be. I heard things like go to college, get an education, graduate, and then find a good job.

But what I didn’t have at the time was any type of experience, examples, or role models. I did not know what to expect. So I made mistakes along the way . . . and I learned the hard way what it would take to make it to graduation. It wasn’t easy.

So, it is through my own personal experience and trials and tribulations as a college-grad that I hope to provide you with some tips that will make your road a bit less bumpy. College is a great place to be . . . and after all these years since my first days as a new college student, I can honestly say that it has made all the difference in the world. I hope this blog will make a difference for you!! Take care!
